A bit about me…
your future editor, perhaps?

✹ Hi, I’m Kayla.

I spend my days shivering or sweating in the mercurial air of Toronto while working as a freelance fiction editor. I have an eclectic educational background, which translates quite well to my work with fiction.

Writing a historical romance? My history degree can help fine tune the details of etiquette in Tudor England. (i.e., They would actually have this many petticoats to lift up). Writing horror or science fiction? My life sciences degree can help make death scenes all that more realistic. (i.e., You could actually only make this many chain-link sausages out of human intestines).

I studied English, literary history, editing, and creative writing courses as electives during my undergrad, then went through two years of naturopathic medical school before abandoning it to surround myself with books and HERE WE ARE.

Books are magic, and I will always treat your manuscript with the intensity of a new parent to your brain-baby. Or, more likely, that weird Aunt. I would love to help you get that story in your head onto paper and into the hands of readers in its best form. You’ve already done the work, and I’m here as your partner in fine-tuning.

I’m not a very serious person, but I am very serious about this work. I’m always happy to chat or answer any questions you might have.

Thanks for stopping by!

xo, Kayla
